Inspiration

Ityrnus is a fantasy setting made by me, and inspired the many fantasy books I have read such as Cradle, Mage Errant, Discworld, and the works of Matt Coville. The games that I have played like Pokemon, Earthbound, and the countless RPGs are what helped mold this world. It has also come about from the many adventures my friends have had from the times I was their Game Master.

"The Realm of Origin is no more; cracked long ago, and then shattered by the Rift of Gods."


The Realm of Ityrnus is what came after the collapse of the Realm of Origin. The many worlds being made of the splinters and fragments of the Origin Realm. Some came into contact of 'Higher Beings', killing or fusing with them to create something unexpected. Many were lost during the transition.
As such the remaining 'Higher Beings' created a piece of great workings and placed it within the center of the new Realm, they hope this Realm will remain eternal.

The Fragments

The Worlds of Ityrnus are made from the fragments of what came before. Either stabilizing on their own, or embedding themselves within the Higher Beings. Most of these fragments have formed Worlds and are able to host life in some form.

Upper Worlds


The Upper Worlds of Ityrnus host many of the Godlike beings that those within the Middle Worlds worship. Lords, Gods, and the Celestials all reside here.

Middle Worlds


The Middle Worlds of Ityrnus are the home to the majority of the mortals within the Realm. Here they live in ignorace of the other Worlds, simply beliving the stars in the night sky to be pin holes in the sheet of night.

Lower Worlds


The Lower Worlds of Ityrnus are filled with the most broken fragments from the Realm of Origin. Having nowhere else to go, the Demons, Devils, and Lords of Caodeus carved out a home there.

Far Worlds


The Far Worlds of Ityrnus host what is left of the most ancient beings within the Realm. Said to be the first creations, before even that of the Realm of Origin. These beings have seen it all, from the birth of the Gods, to the death of the Realm.

- Magic -

Ethos

As such the remaining higher beings created a piece of great workings and placed it within the center of the new Realm, they hope this Realm will remain eternal.

Foundations

A Magical Foundation determines the way you cast spells and aquire more power. Each foundation is different at the core of its teachings, but some find that they have some overlap between eachother.

A spell cast through one Magical Foundation will be completely different for another, although the same spell effect will be cast.

Affinities

Affinities are the natural Elements and Forces within the realm. They balance eachother and can be used in various ways, allowing for Magic users of the same affinities use them in new and unique ways.

People can possess Affinities as soon as they are born, while others can take longer for them to develop. Very rarely some people never have their Affinities form and must either work towards developing them or supplementing them.

Disciplines

As a Magic User develops their abilities they typically becomes drawn to a Discipline that will allow them to progress their magic further.

Most Diciplines either stem from a Magic wielders need for coin or from a speccific speciality that they have.

Some popular disciplines include: Conjuration, Divination, Elementalism, Enchantment, Shamanism, Transmutation, and Wardcraft. Learn More Disciplines.

Gods

Beings who rely on Faith of followers for the majority of their greater power. Most Gods have a base level power close to that of a Demigod. The rest of their strength and influence comes from the faith their followers give them, pushing them into the divine.

Dealing in in pacts, promises, and souls. Collecting debt after debt until they’ve taken all that they want. They desire Souls over all other things, but often they desire magical objects or information, some develop special niches that are utterly mundane. But all of them are twisted and corrupt in someway, if not all ways.

Demonlords

Nurturing the body through a strange process leaves one without their soul, leaving the body near immortal. Demonlords are brutal and vile creatures that are capable of mass destruction. They do not care about others and often times will resent their existence.

Immortals

There are many forms of Immortals, each is unique to the lineage that manages to ascend from their World. The paths that they can take vary with some being long and easy, while others are short but near impossible. Due to their expanded lives, Immortals will often see the mortals as expendable or less than themselves.

Lords

The Lods of Caodeus and Orddeus who serve the Laws of Chaos and Order. They live to serve the Laws as their keepers, ever to uphold them and keep them from burning out. It is said that they existed before the Gods, before almost anything else.

World Spirits

Born during and after the collapse of the last realm. Made from the bodies of Lords, Gods, Demons, Devils, and other powerful beings they have developed in strange and unique ways.

They often create lineages of their own or guide those already present to spread their influence to other worlds. They often become known as Ancestral Spirits.

Primordials

Said to be the First among all creations within the Realm. Existing within the Far Realms, they wait for the time to return or perhpas they wait for the return of something else.
